APPLICATION
Applying for the Scholarship
ELIGIBILITY: Applicant must be a full-time student. Applicant must be an active employee and/or their dependent (children or stepchildren). THE EMPLOYEE MUST WORK FOR AN ARWA MEMBER WATER UTILITY.
The scholarship application period is open until July 31, 2026.
The Ernie Faucett Scholarship award check will be made payable and sent directly to the Institution designated. This Scholarship Award will be announced at the ARWA Conference in Hot Springs at the Monday Luncheon, August 31, 2026. The Award winner will be notified in advance and asked to be in attendance for the presentation of the Scholarship Award at the luncheon.
Essay Requirements
- One page maximum (approximately 500–600 words)
- Typed and double-spaced
- Must address the essay prompt
- Save your essay as a .pdf and attach it to your scholarship application form
- Essays may be featured in the Arkansas Rural Water Association’s quarterly magazine

Scholarship Essay Question:
The water and wastewater profession serves communities every day by safeguarding public health and supporting essential infrastructure.
In a one-page essay, describe the role education plays in building strong individuals and communities. Share how being connected to the water or wastewater community—either personally or through a parent or guardian—has influenced your values, goals, or work ethic, and explain how this scholarship will support your educational journey and future aspirations.
OPTION 2 – Community & Service Emphasis
Scholarship Essay Question:
Strong communities are built by people who quietly serve others through dedication and responsibility.
In a one-page essay, reflect on how the water and wastewater community has influenced your understanding of service, responsibility, or perseverance. Describe your educational goals and how receiving this scholarship will help you contribute positively to your community and future career.
OPTION 3 – Personal Growth & Opportunity
Scholarship Essay Question:
Education opens doors to opportunity and personal growth, regardless of the field of study.
In a one-page essay, share your educational goals and the experiences that have shaped them. Explain how support from the water and wastewater community through this scholarship will help you pursue those goals and prepare for a meaningful future.

In a one-page essay, describe how being part of a water or wastewater family—or community—has influenced your perspective on education, work ethic, and/or service. Explain how this scholarship will assist you as you pursue your educational and life goals.
