Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- To manage a system of machines to treat wastewater
- Monitor meters, operating conditions and gauges through the use of control boards
- To accurately document and track data from the gauge and meter readings to record data
- Servicing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of system equipment, including pumps, valves, motors, filters, and meters
- Inspecting and maintain sewer distribution
- Inspecting and maintaining lift stations
- Carrying out regular maintenance schedule for the routine and preventative maintenance and repairs of machinery, equipment, and related controls and systems
- Performing the duties and responsibilities related to testing, sampling, bacterial, chemical, and other monitoring, inspections, and general compliance conditions for facilities as necessary to meet the rules and regulations
- Requires availability for shift, weekend, and on call duty
- Perform repair work on the system facilities and equipment
- Perform repair work on the water and sewer lines
- Requires a high level of skill, independent judgement and responsibility to operate in accordance to permit requirements, state and federal regulations, and workplace safety rules and regulations.
- Will work under the Superintendent of the Booneville Water Department
- Any other tasks or duties assigned
Essential Functions
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations quickly and required to live within a distance of 30 minutes from the work municipality job site.
- Day to day record gathering as assigned and turned in a timely manner
- Ability to read complex written or oral instructions
- Ability to exercise good judgement when carrying out duties and maintain good working relationships with the public and fellow employees
- Lifting items up to 75 pounds to waist-level
- Walking on hard or uneven surfaces
- Working on ladders, climbing ladders
- Frequent bending, squatting, and kneeling
- Utilize check list, forms, communication and work applications
- Proper use, cleaning, storage, and maintenance of tools
Education and Experience
- High school diploma/GED
- At least two (2) years of related or transferable experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
Required Qualifications
- Possession of a valid Arkansas driver’s license
- GRADE II minimum and must acquire a Grade 3
- Pump and Motor Maintenance
- Chlorine System and Chemical Handling

- The employee must be able to perform job functions in a safe manner to avoid injuries
- Vision, hearing and speech are required
- This position may require prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, and stooping in the performance of daily activities.
- Operator duties may be performed outside in all kinds of weather and subject to night and weekend work on uneven and slippery surfaces during after hours emergencies.
- Operates heavy motorized machinery and equipment and hand tools, gasoline and diesel-powered equipment, trenching machine, water pumps, saws, pickaxes, shovels, plumbing tools, etc.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
