Position Summary
The Accounts Receivable Specialist & Rate Study Analyst will handle all aspects of invoicing, payment processing, and account reconciliations while providing critical support for utility rate studies. This dual role involves working with financial data to analyze, recommend, and implement utility rate structures that align with the organization’s goals and ensure cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable:
– Generate and distribute accurate invoices to customers, members, or partners.
– Record, monitor, and reconcile payments, ensuring timely follow-ups for outstanding accounts.
– Maintain and update financial records for members and client accounts.
– Communicate professionally with clients and stakeholders to resolve payment issues or discrepancies.
– Collaborate with the finance team to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Rate Study and Analysis:
– Conduct utility rate studies by analyzing historical financial data, operational costs, and funding needs.
– Develop data-driven recommendations for utility rate adjustments that align with organizational goals.
– Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and proposals to leadership.
– Monitor and evaluate the impact of rate changes, adjusting recommendations as needed.
– Collaborate with departments to gather and interpret relevant data.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
– High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in accounting or related field preferred.
– 1-2 years of experience in accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or a similar role (non-profit experience is a plus).
Skills and Competencies:
– Proficiency in accounting and data analysis software (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel, Zoho Books).
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
– Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in managing accounts and data.
– Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
– Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
– Familiarity with non-profit financial management and rate analysis is a bonus.
