Job Opening: Water Distribution Supervisor – Camden, AR

THE POSITION
Water Distribution Supervisor, Highland Industrial Park, Inc.

LOCATION: Camden, Arkansas
DEPARTMENT: Shumaker
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly/Full Time

SUMMARY
The Water Distribution Supervisor works directly for the Director of SPSC. This position is responsible for the direct oversight and training of the Water and Wastewater maintenance team. The position manages a team of employees who operate and maintain the entire SPSC system of wells, storage tanks, water distribution, and wastewater collection handling facilities located inside and adjacent to HIP. The Supervisor position works closely with other HIP departments including accounting to ensure revenue generation and control of costs while meeting federal and state regulations related to water and wastewater operatins.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Exercises direct supervision and training over the Water & Wastewater employees.

Following direction provided by the SPSC Director:

  • Maintenance and repair of plants, collection, and distribution systems, ensure daily that all equipment is safely and properly utilized, maintained, and stored.
  • Coordinates and monitors the work of other departments and external agencies, ensuring compliance with specifications and company standards.
  • Ensures safe practice and working conditions and that correct PPE is utilized.
  • Ensures standard operating procedures for plants, collection system, distribution system, and equipment operations are adhered to in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Provides input to and supports implementation and execution of projects.
  • Improves efficiency of operations by identifying and eliminating waste within to improve efficiency and financial status of SPSC.
  • Maintain compliance with company standards, procedures, policies, State and Federal regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates departmental activities and priorities with other departments and external agencies. May be assigned to support any task required to be completed within the SPSC plants and systems, assist with ground and vegetation control as assigned.
  • Monitors plant operations, reviews, and assesses operational logs, records, and reports; inspects plant facilities and operations on a regular basis.
  • Assist with preparation of operational and statistical reports as assigned.
  • Responds to and resolves citizen concerns and complaints.
  • This position includes hands-on duties estimated at 50% and supervision responsibilities estimated at 50% of working time.
  • Must respond to after-hours call outs and work assigned overtime as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

  • Three years’ experience in Water and Wastewater operations.
  • Two years of experience working as a manager or Supervisor.
  • Skills and experience such as plumbing, electrical, PLC, mechanical, rebuilding pumps, pipe replacement, welding, fabrication, heavy equipment operation, measuring and establishing grades.
  • Certifications related to Water & Wastewater operations are a plus.
  • Computer skills such as Word, Excel, Power point and Microsoft Project are a plus.

EDUCATION

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associate or bachelor’s Degree, years of equivalent experience is a plus.
  • Possession of applicable Water and Wastewater Operator’s Licenses are a plus.
  • Water Distribution Operator II License
  • Water Treatment Operator II License
  • Wastewater Treatment II License or obtain within 12 months.
  • Training certifications related to safety, water & wastewater operations will be considered.
