GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will work with the Board of Directors of the Public Water Authority to provide a safe, dependable water supply to the customers. The candidate will also perform technical and administrative work including planning and performing tasks necessary to operate and maintain a potable water system and direct the staff of the system.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
A good working knowledge of the principles and practices of water utility administration, planning and organization including the annual budget, accounting and payroll, monthly board meetings and maintaining the solvency of the system.
A good working knowledge of all water system components and how to maintain all different types and sizes of infrastructure.
A good working knowledge of interpreting bid specifications, blueprints and schematic drawing, and make recommendations to resolve construction, maintenance and design problems.
Ability to coordinate expansion with various federal, state and local planning agencies.
Ability to critically assess situations, solve problems, work effectively under stress and in emergency situations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Board, employees, customers, contractors and the general public.
Skill in the use of office equipment and technology, including computers and related software, and the ability to master new technologies.
Familiar with Federal and State Safe Drinking Water Act Requirements.
Familiar with work and safety standards.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
An Arkansas grade III water distribution operator license and a combination of training and experience to provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job to be considered.
Ability to work outside when needed in all weather conditions. Available for on-call work at all hours, weekends and holidays. Valid driver’s license.
