The City of Cave Springs, Arkansas is seeking a highly motivated professional to serve as Public Works Director. The city is a small hometown community with dynamic growth and development potential, conveniently located in the heart of everything that Northwest Arkansas has to offer. The Public Works Director Position is full time, executive level and reports to the Mayor. The director oversees multiple divisions including Water, Sewer, Street and Parks, with responsibilities over Budget, Maintenance, Repair, Policy and Regulatory Compliance. The director must have a strong technical background and a proven track record of successfully managing and leading staff.
The Public Works Director is responsible for the operations and performance of the Public Works Department. Responsibilities include supervision to ensure safety, efficiency and timely completion of department objectives, while providing developmental opportunities for department employees.
The Public Works Director establishes and maintains appropriate work relationships with municipal officials, state and local organizations, and the general public. The director must use independent judgment and technical expertise to meet departmental objectives. The director is accountable for achieving goals and objectives, while ensuring that the community is provided with desired and mandated services in an effective, cost-efficient manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of supervisory experience, or comprehensive technical experience in public works and/or engineering or any equivalent combination of related training and experience
- Class 2 Water Distribution License. (Class 3 or 4 preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent Customer Service skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in Public Administration, Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering or a closely related field preferred.
- MS4 Storm Water Management Training, Certification and Experience.
- Flood Plane Administrator Training, Certification and Experience.
Pay range for this salary position is $54,080.00 to $81,120.00 per year. Compensation commensurate with experience and includes a benefits package with Municipal Health, Vision, Dental and APERS Retirement, after the requisite waiting period. A background investigation will be conducted before employment can begin.
