Ernie believed in providing a better life for all Arkansans and worked tirelessly at providing a little better life to all Arkansans by providing Rural Electric, Rural Water and Good Roads to all that were in need of these services throughout the state.

 

Ernie served as the National Director from Arkansas on the National Rural Water Association (NRWA) Board of Directors from 1977 – 2007. During his tenure on the NRWA board he served as President of NRWA from 1990-1992. Ernie is the only person to receive the NRWA “Man of Year” award twice from National Rural Water Association for all his leadership and legislative efforts during his tenure on the NRWA board. 

 

Ernie was easily recognized and remembered by his size, cheerful smile, his big handshake or hug, and always his drive to get the job done for Rural Water and the many other projects he was involved with.

 

The Rural Water Family has lost a True Rural Water Friend and Advocate but the lives he has affected through his efforts will be remembered for years.

 

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Sherwood with Reverend Don Moore and Reverend Paul McClung officiating.
